The driver, on my Inspiron 700m (XP Home SP2) now allows the SD card slot to work with 2 and 4 GByte SD cards, but NOT with 4 GByte SDHC cards. Can you confirm on your end? For more information, see http://www.edn.com/blog/400000040/post/260005626.html

I believe you are correct – to be SDHC compliant I think would require new hardware and not just a driver update.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! for the link to the SD Card driver for my Dell 700m. The inability to read cards larger than 512MB really bit me in the a$$ on a family trip to Disney World. Luckily I was able to work around it, but it caused me a good hour of stress and hairpulling.
No thanks to Dell!

I believe any card over 2gb is a HC.
As in SDHC.
