A few weeks ago, David Cowan, from Bessemer Venture Partners, came speak at Babson. He presented for a few minutes and then very generously took questions for almost an hour. He just posted a summary on his blog, organizing his thoughts under the theme Get Big Cheap. Cheap is one of the three requirements (along with functionality and schedule). Implicitly, then, he’s saying that schedule is the less important–quite a change from the first dot-com boom when first mover advantage was a primary strategic goal.
