I want a Nintendo DS. I played with my brother-in-law’s PSP and it’s nice, but not earth shattering, and I really like the dual screen and touch screen design of the DS. And except for Katamari Damacy, I really like the sort of clever interface puzzle games that only Nintendo seems to produce. I’m torn, though, because the DS isn’t as hacked a platform (Engadget didn’t get any entries for their DS v. PSP hacking smack-down). It’s not even close.
That said, the MAKE: blog did have some good news this morning: The Opera browser is coming to the DS (and hopefully will work off any WiFi point) and someone is working on an organizer for the DS (though I hardly understood anything on the site).
The Tapwave Zodiac would have been perfect. Actually, now that they’re going for less than $200 for the high end model perhaps I should just get one of those. It doesn’t have Wi-Fi built in (I can just buy a compatible SDIO card), but with a MAME emulator it could be the perfect combination of handheld and gaming machine.
